Time flies!
Almost 12 years ago, I published my paper entitled “First Pregnancy and Livebirth from Cryopreserved Oocytes in the Philippines”. At that time, the procedure was very novel that I was given the opportunity to present Repro Optima Center for Reproductive Health’s case series on oocyte cryopreservation at the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) in Boston.
Now, oocyte cryopreservation using vitrification no longer has an experimental label. It is currenty standard of care and is recommended for women to preserve their fertility either for medical (like cancer) or social reasons (to fight the biological clock).
The case that we published 12 years ago resulted in healthy twins, a boy and girl! I was more than delighted when one of the twins visited me in the clinic. All grown up….beautiful, intelligent and inquisitive….this baby girl who is now a lady got me in a conversation that was so engaging that I can’t help but be proud!
To all my patients… I really appreciate the visits. Thank you for the marvelous chance to see our IVF babies all grown up!
